Final Reflection

Image
All good things come to an end and my thrill ride as a Proctor’s educator/coach is coming to a stop. Building up to the Senior Project, I always questioned myself if shadowing Mel would be the most fun and meaningful experience because I would see that many of my peers were planning to do many cool off campus activities, for example: going fishing in Florida or selling clothes at a store in downtown Boston or getting a pilot license. Then there’s me just staying on campus, the place I’ve been calling home for the past 4 years. I wondered “Am I choosing the right decision?”. However, one thing that life has taught me is that don’t ever try so hard to be like someone else. I feel like I am living in a generation where everybody focuses on other people too much, caring about other people's judgment way too much and Senior Project has proven to me that if I focus and cherish the thing that I do, I will always make the best out of it. And I did make the best out of following Mel around

Day 12

Today is the last day of Senior Project.  I woke up and play some basketball. I had 2 classes today. I helped the students to work on their project. I also worked with Mel to get the rest of the grading done. I feel productive today.

Week 2 Reflection

They are special What's the point of writing the same thing this much? It's not like I have that much to say for 12 days in 15 writings.  Yeh I had fun, I learned a lot, I met many people, what's else you want me to say.  Why can't I put it all in my final reflection?

Day 11

Image
It's crazy to think but it really is my last week of high school. I've been calling this place home for the last 4 years and all the goodbyes are coming closer. I started off the day having my last lesson with my a block athlete class, we were able to print out off the infographic today. I think all of them did a really good job. After a block, I have b block athlete class, this class is still working on their infographic today in oder to print tomorrow. In the afternoon, Mel was little busy so I was reading Shoe Dog: Young Reader Edition by Phil Knight, the founding father of Nike. I really enjoy reading this book, I will try to read as much as possible and recommend for Mel if she should teach it next year. After reading for more than an hour, I went to the field and play some soccer with future SLU star, Eric Edmonds.  Hours: 3 Total hours: 73

Day 10

Today marks the end of another week, and I only have 2 more days. Which means I have 2 more days to be around Mel. What a bummer! I feel like I'm becoming a better person each day just by being around one of the best mentors/coaches/educators/the list goes on ... I have 2 classes today, a and c block. I'm very happy that I was able to help some students creating their infographic. After classes, Mel and I went over to Cortland for some gradings until lunch. After lunch, Mel was busy so I spent some time with Heidi in the library, going over some class materials for next week. In the afternoon, I joined the GV Tennis's ice cream trip. And that wraps up the day for me.  Hours: 7 Total hours: 70

Blog 9

Honestly, I feel like my daily blog should be more creative. So imma tryna do that today and I will only talk about the highlight of my day: going on a walk to Chaffee Park Beach. I think the biggest difference of this project is that I get to meet new people. I'm usually shy at school. But for some reasons I have been able to bond so well with people I meet on Senior Project. So going on the walk was the best thing because I get to push Thea into Highland Lake. Pause. I didn't actually push her, I just scared her. Mel had a pretty good laugh at it so I thought it must have been pretty funny. All jokes aside, me and Thea, we are cool. But the walk today marks the end of the season for the tennis team. I'm so thankful that the GV Tennis welcomed me even though I'm only there for 2 weeks. They make my Senior Project memorable! Hours: 7  Total hours: 63 I'm sorry

Day 8

Image
It's halfway through my Senior Project and it has been nothing but joy. Today Mel and I only have one class, we went to a book store in New London for Athlete in Lit students to explore a local business. After getting back from NL, we prepared for the tennis team for their match against Exeter. At 12:15, the team departs for their last battle. Mel was very satisfied with the team performance even though we didn't come out on top. We got back to campus at 5 and that wraps up the day for me.  Hours: 7 Total hours: 56

Day 7

Image
My day started off at 6:30 as I had a basketball workout with Coach Ben, one of the best there is in the game. For today, I have 3 classes, all of them in the morning. After finishing 3 classes, I went back to dorm before for nap before practice at 3:30. As I was walking to practice, I heard someone shouted my name out real loud, sounding like they were mad, kinda, " ANNNNNN !" It was Kellly. Kelly wasn't happy with the fact that I was missing blog but Kelly knows I will get it done❤️. I promised Kelly that I was going to get it done and continue my peaceful walk to practice. The team practice went on for 2 hours as the girls prepare for Exeter. At night, I came over to Cortland for Mel's extra help where English 9 and Athlete in lit student come for help. That wraps up the day for me. Hours: 7 Total hours: 49 Look what I found!

Day 6

Image
I started off the day with lunch dish duty along side Mel's advisors. After that, I have 2 Athlete in Lit classes. In today's class, the students are starting to work on their final project as well as college essay. As classes finish, Mel and I headed quickly to practice as we only have 1 hour practice so we tried to be efficient. My biggest accomplishment today is that I was able to help Mel and Lindsey set up a basketball hoop at Cortland. (Forgot to take a photo of this)  Hours: 6 Total Hours: 42 Dinner for Maks and I

Week 1 Reflection

Image
The life of an educator/coach at Proctor is a non stop thrill ride. And I’m just starting to get the taste of it more and more about it each day. Everyday, I see and learn new things from my mentor, Melanie, just through her interactions with her students and players. Everyday, I’m getting to meet and get to know my peers on a deeper level. I’m no longer just co-existing with them but also being there for their trials and triumphs. As I have been Mel’s student for the last 2 years, I never really understood her perspective as a teacher. Now that I am on the other side, I see it through a whole different lens. It came to my realization that there is so much more that goes into this.  In basketball, there’s a term called “floor general”. A floor general is defined to be a player who provides leadership by running the offense and commanding the defense in a basketball team. Usually, this individual has to know their teammates on a deep level and they are the one who connects all the piece

Day 5

Today is a big day for the GV Tennis team as they head to Brewster for their ultimate Lakes Region Championship. We departed at 10:30am, the players were really dialed in as games start at 1pm. All matches ended around 5:30pm, and that's when we packed up to head home back to Andover. It was a succesful day knowing that 4 of our starters was not there. Coach Mel and I were really happy with the effort that they showed. I had a really entertaining day and it was really worth it spending the weekend with the team. It was another good day! Hours: 8 Total hours: 36

Day 4

Image
I didn't write a blog yesterday because it was a short day as we didn't have any class due to Eaarth Day. But we did have a 1.5h practice. Today (May 12th) was a productive day for Mel and I. We started off the morning with 2 classes, c block English 9 and a block Athlete in Lit. After the first two blocks, we went to little brother burger for lunch at the same time do some grading for English 9 students. After having a really good chicken sandwich, Mel had to attend a meeting that goes till 1pm. As soon as the meeting was over, Mel headed to Carr House to pick me to go to Concord to do some grocery shopping for the tennis team as they are preparing for the championship. We got back at 3:30 for tennis practice. That wraps up the day for me.  Hours: 9 Total hours: 28

Day 3

Today is GAME DAY. Mel and I didn't have any class today so we met at 12:30pm to depart for an away game against KUA . It's the girls last game before their Lakes Region Championship on Saturday. A hard fought battle but couldn't come out on top. They'll have 2 big practices before Saturday. We got back to campus around 5:30pm and I went to play soccer with some of my friends. That wraps up the day for me.  Hours total: 5 Total hours: 19 hype

Day 2

Image
Today feels like a good day . I woke up at 6am to do a basketball workout, just trying to get better everyday. Mel and I met at 8:15am for b block Athlete in Lit in the dining hall, we handed out the book of choice for each student for their last project. After finishing breakfast, we move over to our class room in FFH. In today's class we finished the rest of the presentation about the book Saltwater Buddha . Following b block was c block English 9, it was my first time in this class. It was interesting to see how different Mel interact with different grade.  After c block was a block Athlete in Lit, we did the same thing as b block. That was it for teaching for today. At 4:45pm, I headed to tennis practice and got to play with some of the girls on the team. At night, I came over to Cortland for Mel's extra help where English 9 and Athlete in lit student come for help. That wraps up the day for me.  Hours: 7 Total hours: 14  a good day

Day 1

Image
Mel and I met during d block to start the day. We went over plans and expectation for the next 2 weeks. In addition, I helped Mel prepare for some class materials for her Athlete in Lit class (a and b block). After our meeting, I headed to my first class which is Athlete in Lit b block. In this class, students were having a presenting day. They had to read a book called Saltwater Buddha  and create a map on where the main character traveled. And my job is to grade them. Big responsibility! I thought grading isn't as easy as thought. After b block, Mel and I moved to Woodland center for a block, where I did the same thing as last class. As classes end, I went over to the field house to help getting water and ice for the GV Tennis team, preparing them for their match against Tilton @4:30pm. I was assigned to keep track of the score for each game and I had a fun time watching the girls compete. That wraps up the day for me.  Total Hours: 7 Coaching's Lyfe (taking a photo with my f
